Public Service Announcement

For some of you who may charge your iPhone overnight, you may have gotten a surprise message that said “Your iPhone has been updated.”  No, you weren’t seeing things.

The update message said: “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”

Early Saturday morning Eastern Time, Apple pushed out a major security update that fixes an exploit with the Safari webkit engine.

According to the security notes, the processing of web content may disclose sensitive information and may lead to arbitrary code execution.

No new features were included in this update.

To get the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
