<Begin Rant>

Ever since Apple‘s new CEO took the stage to announce the newest iPad, most media outlets have panned the newest device.  They even went as far as to state “Besides the Retina Display, there’s nothing new.”  While most customers have also panned the new iPad as saying “That’s it???”

So, I waited to order my iPad, thinking that between the media and Apple’s customers, that the “New iPad” would not be a sell out like years past.

But yet, not even three days later, reports were coming in that the ship dates for the new iPad were beginning to slip.  Then, over the weekend, it was reported that Apple had “sold out of its preorders for the iPad.”  HMMM….  What’s wrong with this picture?

Is it because Apple’s customers did not want to admit that they were drooling over the new iPad and didn’t want to let their friends know, or is it because the media made up its mind before the announcement and was going to bash the device no matter what Apple came out with.

Now, maybe Apple is “overblowing” its iPad stats to generate more frenzy about the device – and that has been done before by other companies (like Microsoft).  But to that I say – if this were so, then why are reports coming in that their are lines already forming outside of Apple Retail Stores for the official launch this Friday?
