macOS Sonoma comes pre-configured with a feature that if a user clicks on the desktop, that the current window will “jump” out of way.  Clicking the desktop again will restore the window.

If this is not for you, here’s how to disable it:

  1. Go to the  Apple menu > System Settings
  2. Go to “Desktop & Dock
  3. Find the settings for “Desktop & Stage Manager
  4. Look for “Click Wallpaper to Reveal Desktop
  5. Click the dropdown menu next to that, and select “Only in Stage Manager” to disable the feature (or choose “Always” to enable the reveal desktop click feature)
  6. That’s it.
