How to check if an EA Server is off-line

There is nothing more frustrating then coming home from work, wanting to unwind and play a few EA games on an EA Server, only to find out that it maybe YOUR end, or your EA Server is off-line for one reason or another.

So, you check your end, and everything seems fine.  Now you want to know if the game server that you use is down. How do you check?
