The Dock is an easy way to get to your frequently used apps without having to go into the Applications folder.  But if you find it to be in your way, there is a way for it to go away when you’re inside an app.

Here’s how:

  1. Open System Settings from the  Apple menu.
  2. Go to Desktop & Dock.
  3. Search for the setting that says “Automatically Hide and Show the Dock”.
  4. Toggle this to the ON position.
  5. Close System Settings.
  6. That’s it.

To turn the option OFF, here’s how:

  1. Open System Settings from the  Apple menu.
  2. Go to Desktop & Dock.
  3. Search for the setting that says “Automatically Hide and Show the Dock”.
  4. Toggle this to the OFF position.
  5. Close System Settings.
  6. That’s it.
