Google Photos has been an unlimited storage option for those who wish to have a backup of their photo library.  Now Google has announced it will be shutting down the service.  However, as of June 1st, 2021, any photos in that area will be counted AGAINST your storage plan, which means you may end up having to purchase more storage just for your photos.

If you don’t want that, there is a better option.  Move those photos to an iCloud account.  While it is true that you may have to purchase more storage on an iCloud account, that would be better than possibly loosing your photos to Google.
