Reports are coming in that Windows 8 users are getting a blue screen of death notice that the operating system will reach End Of Life status on January 10th, 2023. Â This means that Microsoft will no longer issue any security updates or customer support on and after this date. Â This also means that Windows Defender, as well as any 3rd party anti-virus software will no longer provide updates for this operating system.
Most Windows 8 machines can be upgraded to Windows 10, and some can even take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10. Â But that would depend on the make and model of your machine.
