5G offers super fast Internet from an iPhone and even iPad with cellular capabilities.  But you may find that the familiar 5G icon isn’t showing up all the time, or not at all.

These Troubleshooting tips may or may not help you get that access.

Tip #1: Ensure 5G is even enabled on the iPhone:

  • Go into Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options.
  • Be sure 5G is enabled.

Tip #2 – Make sure 5G is even available:

  • While it should be standard, some outlined areas of the US and other countries don’t have 5G Coverage yet.  Check with your Cellular Provider.  Most provider’s websites have a coverage map based on your location.

Tip #3 – Airplane Mode:

  • Airplane mode temporarily disables the cellular single on an iPhone. This is supposed to be used while an airplane is taking off or landing.
  • Go to Settings > Airplane Mode
  • Toggle it OFF, wait about 10 seconds, and then enable it again.  You should see the 5G icon on the phone.

Tip #4 – Reboot the iPhone:

  • Sometimes rebooting your iPhone can cause 5G to start working again. Do this on any 5G compatible iPhone by pressing Volume Up, Volume Down, then press and hold Power/Lock until you see the  Apple logo on screen.

I hope the above tips help you get the 5G coverage you deserve (and crave!). 🙂
