Your iPhone and iPad have the ability to read virtually any text that’s currently on the screen by a finger gesture. In order for this to work, you may have to enable it in Settings.  This feature will work in Mail, Notes, and other compatible apps.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to  Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Turn Speak Selection ON.
  2. Exit Accessibility.
  3. Exit Settings.

Now for this example. open a note in NOTES.

  1. Hold and drag on the text you wish the device to read.
  2. A pop-up menu will appear.
  3. Tap the arrow > until you see the word SPEAK.
  4. Tap Speak.
  5. The device will speak the highlighted word(s) or sentence(s).
  6. That’s it.

Most iOS apps are compatible with the above tip.  To see this and other things you can do this tip, go to the Apple Support Channel here.
