Back in December, I got a new M1 Mac mini, and needed a new Mouse. So I got the Apple Magic Mouse 2. After using it for several months, I can give a honest review of this piece of hardware. You may agree or disagree with me. Leave your comment below either way.
The Magic Mouse 2 is a predecessor to the first model, which I didn’t have so I cannot compare the two.
Here’s are the pros and cons of the hardware:
Pros:
- Easy to setup. No battery to purchase.
- Feels okay in the hand. Takes some getting used to if you’re coming from a generic mouse.
- Looks nice on the desk.
- Response time is great, especially in games.
Cons:
- Top of mouse is very touchy. Harder to click on options on a form. No option to change that in System Preferences > Mouse.
- Should charge it at least once a week, so you don’t end up with a DEAD Mouse during the day.
- Charging port is on the BOTTOM of the Mouse. Not able to be used when charging.
Bottom Line:
The Magic Mouse 2 is a good piece of hardware if you’re looking for a no-battery replacement – despite the cons that I just outlined.
