Have you ever wanted to add a message to the bottom of the login window on your Mac?  Something like “This computer is being watched by the NSA?”  This little Terminal Hack can do it.

Here’s how:

  1. Open Terminal (Finder > Utilities > Terminal).
  2. Type the following command:  sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow LoginwindowText “[Your login window message text goes here]”
  3. Exit out of Terminal.
  4. Log out, and look at the bottom of the screen!
  5. That’s it.
