For those of you who don’t know, if you have an Apple Watch, you can automatically unlock your Mac without having to know a password. How? Read below:
- Make sure that your Mac and Apple Watch meet the system requirements for Auto Unlock.
- Make sure your device has WiFi and Bluetooth turned ON.
- Your Mac and watch are signed in to iCloud.
- That they’re using the same iCloud ID.
- Your Apple Watch is setup with a passcode.
- Choose the (Apple Menu) > System Preferences.
- Select Security and Privacay.
- Choose “Use your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac”.
- Follow the screens.
Note:
If you’re unsure if your Mac supports this feature, you can look in the System Information window by going to: Apple Menu > System Information. Select the WiFi sidebar, then look for “Auto Unlock Supported” on the right side pane (see below):
