How to "Turn Off" Apple TV (4th Generation)

You may have noticed that I put double quotes around “Turn Off”.  That’s because the device doesn’t actually turn off, but rather goes into a sleep mode.  This is because it can always be ready for the user, and update any updates while it’s not in use.

Here’s how:

1. Press and hold the Home Button for 5 seconds.  A menu will appear with two options.
2. Select the “Sleep” option.
3. That’s it.

Notice:
Some TVs will also go off when Apple TV is powered off.  In that case, their is another setting that you have to choose in settings.  That will be covered in another “How To”.
