How to: Fix a unresponsive HOME button on an iOS device

I’m borrowing this tip from a web site called osxdaily.com, which has some fantastic hints and tips for the Mac and iOS devices.

The below tip is for an iOS device that has a unresponsive or slow HOME button.  I did this myself and the tip does work, although nobody knows why.

1.  Open a default iOS application (such as Calculator, Stocks, or Weather).
2.  Press and hold the Power Button until the familiar “Slide to Power Off” appears.
3.  Release the power button.
4.  Now hold down the Home button until the “Slide to Power Off” disappears.
5.  The application will also abort and go back to the home menu.

Again, nobody can explain why the above works with most iOS devices.  If it doesn’t, then you may have to have the device fixed or even replaced.
