How to Clean your iPhone Screen
Apple cleaning guidelines to avoid damaging the fingerprint-resistant (oleophobic) coating:
- Unplug and Power Off: Disconnect all external power sources, cables, and devices.
- Remove the Case: If you use a case, remove it to clean the edges of the display thoroughly.
- Use a Soft Cloth: Use a soft, lint-free, dye-free cloth, such as a microfiber lens cloth.
- Lightly Dampen if Needed: If the screen has stubborn smudges, lightly moisten the cloth with water only.
- Wipe Gently: Use short, straight motions to wipe the screen. Avoid excessive pressure or circular motions that can leave streaks.
- Disinfect (Optional): You may gently use a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe, 75% ethyl alcohol wipe, or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes on the display.
- No Harsh Chemicals: Do not use window cleaners (like Windex), household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, bleach, or hydrogen peroxide.
- Avoid Moisture in Openings: Do not get moisture into any openings, such as the charging port or speakers.
- No Abrasives: Avoid using paper towels, napkins, or abrasive cloths that could scratch the screen.
- Don’t Spray Directly: Never spray liquid directly onto the iPhone; always apply it to the cloth first.
- No Compressed Air: Apple specifically advises against using compressed air to clean iPhones.
