Web site Digital Music News is reporting that Apple Music has surpassed another music service Spotify.

An anonymous source, said to be a major U.S.-based distributor, is said to have shared a report with the website detailing the subscriber tallies of several streaming music services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and Sirius XM.

Including other online music services, the report claims that both Apple Music and Spotify have more than 20 million subscribers in the United States, with Apple having a slight lead with “20 Million Plus” members.  The exact figures were not reported because the said source for the figures requested confidentiality.

The growth was said to be due to Apple’s hardware being in more customers hands, including the recent addition to their HomePod speaker.
