The simplest way to reset your password is using your iPhone or any other trusted Apple device that’s already signed in to your Apple Account. This ensures that Apple recognizes it as your device. Additionally, you’ll need to have a passcode (or password on Mac) set up on that device.

If you don’t have a trusted device, you can also reset your password on the web.

Apple ID has been renamed Apple Account. You can still log in using the same email address or phone number and password.

To reset your Apple Account password on your trusted device, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap your name.

3. Tap Sign-In & Security.

4. Tap Change Password.

To reset your Apple Account password on your Mac, follow these steps:

1. Open the Apple menu () and select System Settings.

1. Click on your name, then Sign-In & Security, and finally Change Password.

If you’re trying to sign in on a new Apple device, follow these steps:

1. If you’re not signed in to your Apple Account on an Apple device, select “Forgot password or don’t have an Apple Account?” during device setup on the Apple Account sign-in screen.

1. After setup, you can reset your password in Settings:

    – For iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Apple Account, tap “Sign in manually,” then tap “Forgot password?” and follow the onscreen instructions.

•     – For Mac: Choose Apple menu () > System Settings, click Sign in, then click “Forgot password” and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you don’t have a trusted device, you can reset your Apple Account password using the Apple Support app on a borrowed device:

1. If you don’t have an Apple device but have access to your trusted phone number, borrow an Apple device from a friend or family member, or use one at an Apple Store.

1. Open the Apple Support app on the borrowed Apple device. If you need to download the Apple Support app, find it in the App Store.

1. 3. Scroll down to Support Tools and tap Reset Password.
2. 4. Tap “Help Someone Else.”
3. 5. Enter your Apple Account email address or phone number.
4. 6. Tap Continue and follow the onscreen instructions to reset your password.

Any information you input won’t be stored on the device.

To reset your Apple Account password, visit the web.

You can also regain access to your account by resetting your password on the web. When possible, the web browser will redirect you to a trusted device.

If you don’t have a trusted device, you can still reset your password on the web, but the process may take a bit longer. If you’ll have access to one of your trusted devices soon, it might be quicker and easier to reset your password then.
