How to: Upgrade to Mac OS X 10.11, El Capitan
Today’s the day when the general public can get their hands on Apple latest operating system – Mac OS X 10.11, El Capitan. Â The newest operating system brings new features to the Mac platform. Â So lets get started and get ready for the upgrade with the below checklist.

- Make sure your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements for the upgrade. Â This information can be found in the Mac App Store below the description of the operating system.
- As we reported yesterday, make sure you’ve backed up all of your important stuff.
- Go to the Mac App Store and download the El Capitan installation app. Â It’ll be in the Launchpad when it has completed.
- Go into Launch Pad, and double click on the installation icon.
- A window will come up asking if you wish to preform the upgrade now.
- The system will make sure your computer can handle the upgrade, and download some necessary installation files before rebooting itself into the installation process.
- The installation process takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to complete. Â Allow ample time for this process! Â Do NOT interrupt it once it starts.
If all goes well, you will be asked a series of questions to help get your Mac back online as soon as possible.
