Sometimes, users need to know the number of CPUs a Mac has for one reason or another.

Here’s how to find out:

  1. Hit [Command+Spacebar] to open Spotlight.
  2. Type “System Information” and hit return (or type “System Profiler” for earlier MacOS versions)
  3. Click “Hardware”.
  4. Find the “Total Number of Cores”.
  5. It will read something like the following: Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 performance and 4 efficiency).
  6. That’s it.
