A video making the rounds on social media purports to show a “California aquarium collapse” at a mall and claims that 50 people died.

It’s a fake. There was no California aquarium collapse.

We spotted this while looking at Google Trends for searches about the Golden State on Wednesday. It was dominated by queries about the supposed collapse.

n 2022, there was a massive aquarium collapse in Berlin that hurt two people, CNN reported at the time. The 46-foot high AquaDom aquarium in the foyer of a Radisson Collection Hotel, which was filled with 1,500 fish, broke and spilled water and debris into the street.
