At the beginning of 2026, Apple TV+’s recently canceled thriller series, “The Last Frontier,” is defying expectations by maintaining a strong presence on the platform’s global streaming charts. Despite Apple’s sudden cancellation of the Jason Clarke-led series after its single season concluded in December 2025, the show, which revolves around a U.S. Marshal facing chaos after a prison plane crash in remote Alaska, continues to captivate audiences worldwide. This demonstrates that cancellation doesn’t necessarily signify the end of a show’s momentum.

As of January 6, according to FlixPatrol, “The Last Frontier,” created by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, holds the position of the second most-watched television series on Apple TV globally.
The series premiered its first and only season in October 2025. It boasts a 48% Rotten Tomatoes critic score and a 51% audience score. Apple TV abruptly canceled the series after its Season 1 finale in December 2025.
Despite receiving poor reviews, “The Last Frontier” had been a ratings success for Apple TV. The cast of the series, in addition to Clarke, included Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and Alfre Woodard.
