However, for Season 2, the show is relocating principal production to California. This decision was made due to a substantial $20.6 million tax credit offered by the California Film Commission. While the bulk of filming, including interiors and soundstage work, will take place in the Los Angeles area, some exterior shots are expected to return to Florida to maintain the show’s authentic Florida Keys vibe.

The tax allocation was one of 10 announced on Wednesday, totaling $108.6 million.

California provides a significant amount of financial support to film and TV shows, awarding $330 million annually in tax credits. Governor Gavin Newsom has expressed his intention to increase this amount to $750 million annually in the upcoming budget, as the film industry continues to face challenges in recovering from the 2023 strikes.

Colleen Bell, the director of the California Film Commission, emphasized the efforts being made to retain productions filming in California, as stated in a press release.

Another Apple TV+ show, “Imperfect Women,” will also receive a tax credit to film in Los Angeles. This show, starring Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss, is produced by 20th Television and will receive $12.5 million in tax credits.

Apple Studios is also receiving another $10.7 million in tax credits to film an untitled TV series.

Disney emerged as the major winner in this round, securing four projects that collectively received $43.5 million in tax credits.

Additionally, HBO’s show “L.A. Nights” also received a tax credit, amounting to $19.4 million.
