“The Last Frontier” will not have a second season.

Despite Apple’s efforts to promote the show and its promising start, “The Last Frontier” has been canceled after just one season, as reported by Variety.

The Jason Clarke-led series premiered last October and received an overall positive reception. However, it seems that the show’s momentum waned as it approached its season finale on December 5th.

Episode ratings on IMDb ranged from 7.7 for the debut episode to 6.2 for the finale.

“The Last Frontier” follows the story of U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick, portrayed by Jason Clarke (Oppenheimer), who becomes involved in a manhunt for dozens of violent inmates after a suspicious prison transport plane crashes near a rugged Alaskan town.

In February 2023, Apple greenlit “The Last Frontier” with a straight-to-series order, committing to producing the entire season without first filming a pilot episode.

“The Last Frontier” now joins a list of other series that were canceled after just one season, including Mr. Corman, Constellation, City On Fire, Suspicion, Shantaram, High Desert, Sunny, Time Bandits, Still Up, Dear Edward, and Amber Brown.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and offers a wide range of hit TV shows and movies, such as Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking, and Silo.
