A lot of times, a user has multiple apps open on their Mac, and then decide that they no longer need an app anymore.  Here’s how to quickly close the unnecessary app without leaving the current one:

  • Hold down [Command] and then the [Tab] key.
  • Cycle through to the app that you wish to close.
  • While still holding [Command], press the [Q] (Quit) key.
  • That app will close.
  • That’s it.

Bonus Tip: You can also use this option to quickly go from one app to another.  Just do steps 1 and 2 and then let go of the keys to go to that app.

A user can invoke this option anytime and in any app.
