Subway to use Apple Pay for new self-order kiosks and pre-orders via iPhone

(AppleInsider.com): Subway is in the middle of testing a new restaurant design that will make Apple Pay an integral option when ordering food, in some cases before people even walk through the door. Upgraded locations will have self-order kiosks supporting both Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, the company said on Monday. Once an order is completed, people will be able to claim it at a dedicated pick-up space. The chain does already support Apple Pay, but only for conventional orders. HSBC expands Apple Pay to Singapore, offering incentives to users

HSBC has expanded Apple Pay into the country of Singapore.  Users can begin using the pay service immediately. As part of the launch promotion for the service, customers who link their HSBC creditcards to Apple Pay will get $5 off every transaction of $10 or more they make with the mobile payment service until Jan. 15, 2017. Each customer is limited to four discounted transactions. HSBC joins American Express, DBS Bank, POSB Bank, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB, who have all previously launched support for the service in Singapore. Apple Pay launches in Spain

Apple Pay has officially launched in Spain.  The service is now available to customers of Banco Santander, with support for both debit and credit cards, alongside cards issued by Amex, Carrefour and Ticket Restaurant. This brings the total number of Apple Pay countries to 13, which are: Australia Canada China France Hong Kong Japan New Zealand Russia Singapore Spain Switzerland UK USA  

Persons can now make donations with Apple Pay

Early Monday, Apple announced that persons can now make donations to non-profit organizations via Apple Pay. New York Rail Commuters get to use Apple Pay for MTA eTix App

Rail commuters in New York woke up to an added feature when using the MTA Rail System.  Now they can use Apple Pay or Masterpass to purchase tickets and passes via the MTA Tix App. The two payment options can be used for both the Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road, Cuomo’s office said. A full range of purchases are available, from one-way trips through to weekly or monthly passes. Using Apple Pay with MTA eTix simply requires picking “Pay with Apple Pay” at checkout and authenticating with Touch ID. Apple Pay officially launches in Russia

“Apple launched Apple Pay in Russia on Tuesday, extending the payment platform’s reach to ten countries around the globe,” Jake Smith reports for ZDNet. “Apple Pay, which allows users to pay with an iPhone or Apple Watch through a contactless sales point, will be available through Sberbank and MasterCard,” Smith reports. “Apple Pay launched in [the U.S.A.] 2014, with the gradual global rollout making the service available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland and United Kingdom.” Read more in the full article here.
